About SLR Theatre Company

SLR Theatre Company formed in 2005 to produce a one-act play - Little Brother Little Sister by David Campton - for the local One-Act Play festivals. We won the Adjudicators Special award with our very first performance at the Wilmslow Guild festival.

In early 2006 we procuced a play One Flap of It's Tiny Wings which was written by a member of the group (Marc Lyth). We were shortlisted in five of nine categories at Wilmslow and Danielle Gibson won the award for best individual in a junior role. We were also shortlisted for best production at the Hale One act festival where Marc Lyth won the award for Best Actor in a dramatic role. We then went on to win the award for Best Original play at the GMDF one act play festival. In September we showcased the two plays at the Salford Arts Theatre and then concluded the season with the pantomime Ali Baba & The Forty Thieves at the Swinton High School in February 2007.

In spring 2007 we entered the local One-Act Festivals with two performances - Little Box Of Oblivion by Stephen Bean and Little Brother Little Sister by David Campton. At the Partington festival, Little Box Of Oblivion won Best Youth Production and Adam Manning won the award for Best Youth Actor, for his portrayal of the character Cool. Danielle Gibson also won a Certificate of Merit for her portrayal of Madam in Little Brother Little Sister. At the Wilmslow festival Adam Manning won the prize for Best Youth Actor. He was also shortlisted for Best Youth Actor at the Hale festival where Little Brother Little Sister was shortlisted for Overall Best Production and Best Direction, and Marc Lyth was shortlisted for Best Actor for his role as Cook.

Our first production of 2008 will be our Pantomime Betty & the Beast. Watch this space...
